37-year-old Shelton Hamer was charged with domestic assault after he threw a beer can at his girlfriend’s face in front of a police officer when she said she wanted to date an older, more respectable man, per report.
On November 24th, Memphis Police Officer Draper arrived at Tops Bar-B-Q parking lot, located at 3964 Rhodes Avenue, in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, Tempa Smith advised that she got into an argument with her boyfriend, Shelton Hamer.
She reported that when she told him she wanted to date an older, respectable man, he threw a beer can at her face. Officer Shelton was in the parking lot when the assault occurred and witnessed Hamer throw the can at her. Tempa’s clothes were wet from the beer and she filled out a Domestic Violence Hold Harmless form.
Shelton Hamer was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was released on his own recognizance.
