21-year-old Meechie Perry was charged with domestic assault after he twisted his girlfriend’s arm for trying to take her phone back while she was driving with her children in the car.
On November 24th, Antonette Grant arrived at the Memphis Police Department, located at 426 Tillman Street, to report that her boyfriend, Meechie Perry, assaulted her. She advised they were leaving KidStat clinic after she got an ultrasound when he asked her about text messages on her phone. Per the report, Perry did not like her answers and grabbed her phone while she was driving.
She stated she tried to take the phone back but he twisted her arm and told her to continue driving. Upon arrival at the station, Grant initially reported Perry took her phone, which he bought for her, but the phone account was in her name. Grant’s four children were present in the car and the police proceeded to ask her 10-year-old son what happened. He stated that his mother was texting her friend and Perry kept questioning who she was talking to. He said they started fighting after Perry took her phone and put it under his foot. The officers did not note any visible injuries but Grant claimed that her wrist was burning.
Meechie Perry was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was released on his own recognizance.
