28-year-old Matthew Jarvis was charged with domestic assault after he punched his girlfriend in the eye over an argument about money at Deluxe Inn and Suites and then attempted to hide from police in the next room over.
On October 29th, Memphis Police Officer Cook was dispatched to the Deluxe Inn and Suites located at 3456 Lamar Avenue, Room 226. Erica Vargas stated that she and her boyfriend, Matthew Jarvis, got into a verbal argument about money. Vargas stated that Jarvis punched her in the left eye and then hid in room 228. The officer’s report noted that Vargas had swelling around the left eye.
Jarvis was placed into custody. Officers reported Jarvis acted as though he was under the influence of a narcotic. Memphis Fire Department was requested to the scene and transported Jarvis to medical holding before he was transported to 201 Popular. The police report stated that photos were taken of Vargas, and a domestic violence hold form was filled out. After speaking with a counselor, Vargas was transported to a safe place.
Matthew Jarvis was arrested and charged with domestic violence causing bodily harm. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
