27-year-old Laura Watson was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license after she drove into oncoming traffic on her way home from her “baby daddy daddy’s house.”

On November 15th, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy Adkins arrived at US-64 and Berryhill Road in response to a call about a reckless driver. Per the report, Deputy Stamper advised that a gray Honda Accord was veering off the road, entering the median, and driving towards oncoming traffic. The vehicle finally stopped at the residence of Laura Watson, located at 9589 Mosswood Lane.

Deputy Stamper noted that Watson stayed in her vehicle until deputies arrived and when they made contact, she stated she was returning from her “baby daddy daddy’s house.” Deputies said she stumbled out of her vehicle, exhibited slurred speech, and was unable to recall necessary information, such as her location.

Deputy Tolbert also reported that Watson performed poorly on the several sobriety tests he conducted and her eyes were bloodshot with pinpoint pupils. Watson admitted that she smoked marijuana and took Xanax earlier. The owner of the vehicle, James Casey, told the police that the damage to the rear bumper and taillight was new. Further investigation revealed her license to be suspended.

Laura Watson was arrested and charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license. She was released on a $1,000 bond.
