Emma Smith shoots at minor at North Watkins Family Dollar

25-year-old Emma Smith had an altercation with Rodneisha Mitchell and a minor female, A.F., at the North Watkins Family Dollar on May 1st. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Mitchell and A.F., who stated that they observed Smith in the parking lot near a tow truck in front of the establishment. Since she previously threatened Mitchell and wanted to fight, they entered the location to try to avoid confrontation. Mitchell provided officers with photos of the threats she sent her.

When they exited Family Dollar, Smith shouted, “What’s up? You want to jack,” before pulling out a handgun, firing a shot, and pulling off in a white sedan. Officers reviewed surveillance, which showed them exiting the store and looking toward the tow truck. Then, A.F. was ducking and running in the opposite direction of the white sedan, speeding toward them. They later identified Smith in a 6-person lineup. During the interview, Mitchell said that Smith was trying to retaliate against her for a fight in December 2023. Then, A.F. said the incident made her feel like her life was in danger, adding that she and her sister could have been struck by gunfire. Smith was then taken into custody for two counts of reckless endangerment.
