Amber Thomas, the driver of the vehicle that hit him, was trying to leave the scene but ended up pulling over because her car stalled. Officers observed damage to both vehicles that was consistent with Michael’s story.

Officers then attempted contact with Amber, but upon approaching the vehicle they noticed she was slumped over the wheel and there was a strong odor of intoxicants coming from it. Officers were able to get Amber out of the vehicle, but noticed she was staggering, had slurred speech, and had watery eyes. Amber was taken into custody for DUI. While at the traffic office, Officer Stepney conducted the standardized field sobriety test and Amber was unable to complete it. A search warrant was obtained and served, and 2 tubes of blood were drawn for testing.

Amber Thomas was arrested and charged with Leaving Scene of Accident, Reckless Driving, Failure to Exercise Due Care, Public Intoxication, and Driving Under the Influence. Her bond was set at $20,000.
