Brotherly love: “Come out of your room so I can beat your a– to death”

44-year-old William Lewis was charged with domestic assault after he attempted to take the anger from his recent breakup out on his brother, according to the affidavit.

On March 30th, police responded to a domestic call on New Bethel Road. Officers spoke with Allen Lewis, who stated that his brother William Lewis threatened him. Allen went on to say that around 11:00 a.m., William started banging on his door while saying, “Come out of your room so I can beat your ass to death.” Roy Lewis, William and Allen’s father, told police that William was upset because his girlfriend recently broke up with him.

Roy stated that police were called to his residence last night due to William making threats but he fled prior to the arrival of officers. Law enforcement then searched the residence for William but did not find him in the house. Upon continuation of the search, police were able to locate William hiding in the shed in the backyard. He was taken into custody and spontaneously said, “I said I was going to beat his ass but I didn’t really mean it.” William told police that he had not been exposed to anyone quarantined for COVID-19 and stated he did not want to go to jail for fear of contracting COVID-19, per the affidavit.

William Lewis was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
