Memphis woman fires shots at car with child & baby daddy inside

30-year-old April Mathews was charged with two counts of aggravated assault after firing shots at a child and her child’s father while he was there to collect money that was owed to him, per report.

On April 28th, Officers Gray and White were dispatched to 3418 Ridgeway Road in reference to an aggravated assault. Upon arrival, Cordaro Veasley reported that he was involved in a verbal argument with the mother of his child, April Mathews, at 4375 Burnette Place about a cell phone bill.

Cordaro stated that he went to April’s residence to get some money back that she owed him. While there, he said that April closed his right arm in the window while he was reaching in the vehicle and pulled out a silver and black 9mm handgun.

He went on to say that he was able to free himself and got into his vehicle. While driving off, April fired several shots at his vehicle while his daughter was inside. According to the affidavit, officers then went to 4375 Burnette Place and placed April into custody, where she gave a verbal and written statement admitting to firing shots at Cordaro and his daughter.

April Mathews was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $65,000.
