28-year-old Sergio Avalos-Cancino was charged with domestic assault after he punched the mother of his unborn child and pulled her hair after getting into a verbal argument with her.
On May 4th, police arrived at the scene of 3925 Chelsea Ave for a domestic violence call to find victim, Francesca Mendez. She stated that she had hit a boulder in the street damaging the car so she called Sergio Avalos-Cancino, the father of her unborn child, for help. He arrived and the two began arguing inside the car eventually leading to Sergio hitting Francesca in the head with a closed fist.
Francesca said that he then grabbed her by the hair and forced her head into his lap making it hard for her to breathe. She started kicking to get free causing the windshield to crack, this made Sergio more irate so he began pulling her out of the car. Shortly after, she broke free and called the police. Officers noted that she had a knot on the left side of her head and a bruise on the right side of her neck. They then arrested Sergio and transported him to 201 Poplar.
Sergio Avalos-Cancino was arrested and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $500.
