Shoplifter runs from police after stealing various soap items from Walgreens

42-year-old Sheronia Jones was charged with theft of merchandise, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting official detention when she was caught stealing various soap items from a local Walgreens and then tried to run off but was caught by a police officer that was waiting in line.

On May 18th, around 4 pm Officer Nowakowski responded to Walgreens at 987 Union Avenue and made contact with the manager, Daniel Flowers. He stated that the defendant, Sheronia Jones, entered with an empty purse and left with several items. When he asked the cashier if they had sold a large sum of items to any one person that day they said no. Sergeant Fleming was standing in line so when Flowers saw Jones leave with a bag full of items, he told the officer that she was stealing and she had a history of stealing from that Walgreens.

Sergeant Fleming called out to her to stop and she refused so he pursued her on foot where he finally caught her and detained her. The contents of the bag had various soap items as well as two syringes, an empty pipe, and a spoon. He also found identification belonging to a Tamara Miles so he tried to contact her but she did not answer.

Sheronia Jones was arrested and charged with theft of merchandise, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting official detention. Her bond was set at $500.
