Boyfriend wrecks woman’s vehicle after accusations of cheating

22-year-old Deangelo Nelson was charged with aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving after rear-ending his girlfriend during a heated exchange regarding Nelson’s alleged infidelity.

On June 14th, Deputies Adams, Overly, Truska and Munn were dispatched to 902 Stixx Ln in regards to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with Kearea Griggs. Griggs informed officers that her boyfriend, Deangelo Nelson, seemingly had another woman’s vehicle parked at his residence once Griggs arrived unannounced. Griggs proceeded to contact Nelson and demanded him to come outside, to which he refused. Nelson’s girlfriend then entered her Nissan and drove away from the residence. According to the affidavit, Nelson entered his Ford Mustang shortly thereafter and parked next to Griggs’ vehicle.

Following a verbal altercation between the two parties, Griggs drove away from Nelson in order to separate herself from the dispute. After all attempts to evade Nelson had failed, the woman parked her Nissan at the intersection of Divi Ln and Grapetree Blvd. Nelson once again parked next to Griggs and began to scream at her, per report.

In attempts to elude Nelson once more, Griggs put her vehicle into drive and turned onto Grapetree Blvd, to which Nelson responded by reportedly rear-ending her. Nelson then drove away from the scene of the accident and presumably returned to his residence. The accident caused significant damage to the Nissan and left Griggs’ bumper missing from the vehicle. Nelson was detained and stated a near-identical account as Griggs, adding that the man did not intentionally strike the Nissan. Nelson’s Mustang suffered front end damage as well, officers noting that both headlight fixtures were missing from the vehicle.

Photos were taken of the damage sustained to both vehicles while Griggs and Nelson’s statements were recorded for evidence. Both parties denied medical treatment. Nelson was placed into custody for aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving. Griggs would later complete a hold harmless form.

Deangelo Nelson was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated assault, and reckless driving. He was later be released on his own recognizance.
