Over 34 grams of cocaine recovered in Memphis man’s fanny pack

37-year-old Brandon Triplett was charged with criminal trespass, possession of cocaine with intent, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, and violation of parole after police discovered over 30 grams of cocaine and a scale inside his Nautica fanny pack.

On June 26th, officers were on patrol at the intersection of Kerr Ave and Elvis Presley Blvd due to known drug-related crime in the area. A portion of their patrol resulted in the parking lot of the Wayside Inn, due to the location being a no-trespass zone. Law enforcement discovered a Toyota Avalon parked at the end of the parking lot of the hotel. Officers proceeded to make contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Brandon Triplett.

Further questioning revealed that Triplett was not currently residing in the Inn, but was waiting for a friend to arrive. A search on Triplett’s identification revealed warrants for the man in the form of violation of parole occurring earlier in the month and aggravated assault in regards to a February incident. Triplett was then placed into custody for the outstanding warrants.

Officers proceeded with a search of Triplett’s person, revealing a blue Nautica fanny pack inside the man’s pants pocket. Officers recovered four tied off bags with a white substance inside as well as a scale. Triplett’s left pocket revealed $1,265 in a wad of cash, per report. A Motorola cell phone was additionally in Triplett’s hand at the time of apprehension. The bags later tested positive for cocaine, amounting to 34.2 grams of the stimulant. The phone, fanny pack, scale, and cash were additionally tagged as evidence.

Brandon Triplett was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, possession of cocaine with intent, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, and violation of parole. His bond was set at $50,000.
