Husband shoves woman down flight of stairs during drunken dispute

29-year-old Jordan Kinnett was charged with domestic assault after an argument escalated between himself and his wife at a bar and a Waffle House. Kinnett allegedly pushed her down a flight of stairs after they returned home.

On June 28th, Deputies Donahoe and Howard were dispatched to 9180 Speerberry Ln in regards to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with Kayla Hughes, who advised deputies that she and husband Jordan Kinnett had been involved in a verbal altercation. According to the affidavit, the couple initiated the dispute over cigarettes at a bar where Hughes is employed. Kinnett reportedly had been drinking throughout the evening and continued the argument while the two were at a Waffle House.

As the two parties arrived at their residence, Kinnett proceeded to escalate the altercation. According to the affidavit, Kinnett began to shove Hughes several times in the chest while the two were upstairs. One shove was enacted while Hughes was standing atop the staircase, resulting in the woman falling toward the bottom of the stairs. Following the incident, Kinnett began to pack belongings for himself and his two children. Law enforcement arrived at the scene as Kinnett was packing the items. Additional members present at the scene of the crime were Hughes’ niece and the woman’s friend, Summer Nuccio.

Deputies noticed injuries sustained to Hughes’ back, shoulder blades, forearm, calf, and chest areas. Hughes denied the opportunity to complete a hold harmless form and screening of lethality but did consent to photos of her injuries being taken for evidence. Hughes requested for Kinnett to abstain from laying hands on the woman, but insisted to not prosecute the man.

Jordan Kinnett was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was later released from custody on his own recognizance.
