21-year-old Joshua Randle was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, theft of property, evading arrest, and intentionally evading in an auto when he carjacked a man at gunpoint, drove away from police after an attempted traffic stop, lost control of the vehicle, and then ran off on foot.
On June 30th around 6 pm, Michael Chism flagged Deputies Cook, Hernandez, and Houston down at Germantown Road and Winchester Road. Chism told them that two men held him at gunpoint and carjacked his Chevy Silverado. Deputies searched around the area and saw the Silverado and Deputy Cook attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The vehicle began driving erratically refusing to stop and headed to the area of Winchester Road and Brownbark Drive where he struck another vehicle. Continuing northbound on Brownbark Drive, deputies witnessed the vehicle lose control and momentarily stop at 6734 Norfield Drive. At this time the two victims, Heriberto Hernandez and Jovunti Houston were trying to apprehend the driver of the vehicle, Joshua Randle. He rammed into their Chevy Tahoe then got out of the Silverado and ran on foot.
After a short foot pursuit deputies caught up to him and placed him into custody. Randle was taken to Regional One by the Memphis Fire Department to be treated for minor lacerations on his face he sustained from the accident. The investigation determined that the Chevy Silverado was stolen out of Memphis and had a value of $15,000.
Joshua Randle was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, theft of property, evading arrest, and intentionally evading in an auto. His bond was set at $20,000.
