Woman busts teen’s knee cap with baseball bat and sends another to the hospital

35-year-old Tanisha Pledge was charged with two counts of aggravated assault after getting involved in an altercation between teenagers while wielding a bat.

On August 27th, Memphis Police Officers were dispatched to a fight involving multiple parties near 1010 Oakmont at the University Garden Apartments. Two minors required treatment at the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident. One of the juveniles reported that she had been stuck in the knee with a baseball bat by Tanisha Pledge. Ms. Pledge was still at the location when police arrived and provided a statement of the events that occurred from her point of view.

Investigators requested the surveillance footage from the incident which clearly shows Tanisha approach the altercation involving the teenagers with the bat in her hand. Another teen reported that while she was sitting in the driver seat, Tanisha shattered the driver’s side window of her 2003 Chevy Tahoe resulting in several glass-related injuries. Tanesha was read her Miranda Rights and afterward admitted that she did have a baseball bat during the fight.

Tanisha Pledge was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. She was later released on her own recognizance.
