Man texts ex “if you call the police I’m going to knock your teeth out, on my dead sister”

18-year-old Marcus Evans was charged with aggravated burglary and domestic assault when he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and threatened her by saying he was going to “beat her ass” and “knock her teeth out”.

On September 4th, Shelby County Sheriff Deputies Roberson, Neal, Hearn, and Siri-Martinez responded to a burglary and domestic violence call at 5990 Wagon Hill Road. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Shatae Harris, who reported that her ex-boyfriend Marcus Evans came to her residence infuriated and began banging on the doors and windows. Shatae advised that she and her two sisters, Alexis Harris and Yate Harris, went into a bedroom to hide because they were in fear for their lives. While in the bedroom, Marcus made entry into the residence and attempted to pick the lock on the bedroom door with a CashApp credit card.

All three girls stated that they had to physically hold the door shut to prevent Marcus from coming in. The girls also stated that while he was attempting to make entry he was yelling threats to Shatae including he was going to “beat her ass” and “knock her teeth out”. Shatae showed deputies text messages from Marcus stating “If you call the police I’m going to knock your teeth out, on my dead sister.” Marcus had fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival but was found at the Pleasant Rest Memorial cemetery on Raleigh-Millington Road near Waverly Farms Road. During a pat-down search, officers found a CashApp card with damage to the edge consistent with being used to open the locked door.

Marcus Evans was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and domestic assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
