29-year-old Tequila Kennedy was charged with aggravated assault after a witness saw her stab her estranged husband in the neck, she also chased him and told him “I told you what I was going to do the next time you do this”.
On September 19th, Memphis Police Officers Lamb and Pickens were dispatched to a disturbance at East Alcy and Ketchum Road. Upon arrival, Tequila Kennedy stated to officers that she had been in a verbal altercation with her estranged husband Derrick Lott and was trying to get away from him. Kennedy stated Lott saw her on Alcy and Ketchum Road and ran up to her in an aggressive manner. Kennedy took her knife out of her backpack and Lott grabbed her by the left wrist which caused a bruise.
This prompted Kennedy to stab him in the lower part of his neck. Michelle Moore witnessed the incident and stated that she heard Kennedy yell at Lott “why do you do me like this? I told you what I was going to do the next time you do this.” According to the report, Kennedy chased Lott and stabbed him as he was running away. The knife was recovered and Kennedy was taken into custody. She was transported to the Felony Response Office where she gave a statement admitting to stabbing Lott.
Tequila Kennedy was charged with aggravated assault and her bond was set at $5,000.
