Man busts girlfriend’s window during argument; tells police he wants to kill himself

19-year-old Dashawn Holland was charged with vandalism after police told him to leave during an argument with his girlfriend, returned minutes later and busted out her window, then ran from police and told them he was schizophrenic and “wanted to kill himself”.

On September 19th, officers responded to a vandalism call at Hillview Village Apartments located at 2135 East Hillview Cove. Officers made contact with Dashawn Holland who was arguing with his girlfriend, Ms. Jefferies outside of her apartment creating a disturbance. Officers advised Holland to leave the scene and he complied. A few minutes later, Holland returned to the scene and broke out the rear window of Jefferies’ apartment with an unknown object. Holland then ran from the officers when told to stop and after a brief foot chase through the complex, officers finally caught him and utilizing “soft hands”.

After running on Station B he showed to have numerous warrants. Officers put Holland in the back of the police car where he became combative. He kicked the windows of the car and banged his head on the rear cage window. Holland suffered a small cut on his forehead but he refused treatment from Memphis Fire Department. Lieutenant Jefferson made the scene and was advised. Officers Hood, Wicks, Berryhill, and Rutherford assisted in the arrest and photographed damages. Holland was transported to The Med for minor injuries.

Dashawn Holland was arrested and charged with vandalism. His bond was set at $1,000.
