26-year-old Jordyn Dennington was charged with domestic assault when she reportedly punched her sister in the face after she attempted to prevent her from driving after drinking at a Labor Day celebration.
On September 5th, Shelby County Sheriff Deputies Cook and Bohannon responded to a simple assault at 9448 Osborn Bend Road. Deputies made contact with Ashlee Bumpus who stated that she and her sister, Jordyn Dennington, had been in a physical altercation. Ashlee advised that there were several family and friends at her residence celebrating the holiday weekend. Ashlee reported that Jordyn had consumed several alcoholic beverages and became belligerent.
Jordyn reportedly attempted to get in her vehicle to leave when Ashlee’s husband, Lee Bumpus, blocked her vehicle with his vehicle to keep her from leaving. Ashlee stated that when she took her keys Jordyn became enraged and began pushing her and Lee. Ashlee advised that Jordyn punched her in the face with a closed fist. Deputies did not observe any injuries to Ashlee’s face and she refused medical treatment. Lee Bumpus corroborated Ashlee’s story.
Jordyn confirmed that she and her sister had been involved in a physical altercation but claimed that it was only pushing. When asked if she punched Ashlee she replied with “I don’t remember”.
Jordyn Dennington was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was released on her own recognizance.
