28-year old Royal Smith and 31-year old Chasity Smith was charged with domestic assault and vandalism when they went armed with pistols and a bat to Chasity’s ex-boyfriend’s residence.
On October 25th, Memphis Police Officer Boice responded to a vandalism call at the residence of 6132 Live Oak Cove. Eric Miller stated that he saw a white Chevy Impala with a Barbie sticker on the front windshield and a pink furry steering wheel. Inside the Impala was Miller’s ex-girlfriend, Chasity Smith, and Royal Smith. The Smiths exited the car armed with a pistol and a bat. Miller had his mother, Denise Lacey, call 911 after he heard what sounded like gunshots. Lacey said that she saw Chasity with a bat and observed her knock out the windows of her home. Lacey went outside and confronted the Smiths and had a verbal altercation with them. Chasity was armed with a gun but she said that Chasity did not point it at her. Officers stated that Lacey claimed Chasity told her, “we will be back.”

Miller’s sister, Tyniscia Lacey witnessed Chasity break the windows to the house and heard Chasity tell D. Lacey, “We are going to come back.” Kinte’ Grampton, Lacey’s boyfriend, told officers that he heard the Smiths saying “tell that man to come here”, in reference to Miller. He then observed, he said, both women waving black handguns. Officer Boice put out a bulletin on the two women and requested Lieutenant Hopkins and Lieutenant Montgomery from the domestic victim unit to come to the scene. Mt. Moriah officers went to a residence located at 1008 East Walthal Circle to locate the Smiths along with Miller’s juvenile child. Officers located and detained the suspects. The child was taken to the Ridgeway precinct and placed in Miller’s care. Reportedly, each of them had a pistol in their possession.
Royal Smith was arrested and charged with domestic assault with bodily harm. She was later released on her own recognizance.
