34-year-old Avery Mayberry was charged with domestic assault after he and his girlfriend had a verbal altercation about messages she saw on his phone that led him to grab her by the neck and hit her in the head, per report.
On November 15th, Memphis Police Officer Croom dispatched to a townhouse located at 3889 Glencoe Drive about a domestic assault call. Ashley Glenn told officers that she and her boyfriend, Avery Mayberry, had gotten into a verbal altercation about their relationship. According to the officer’s report, after Glenn had ended their relationship, Mayberry grabbed her by the neck with both of his hands and then hit her in the head with a closed fist. Glenn told officers that he told her, “I’ll shoot you in the face.” She then said that she was able to get away from him and call 911.
Mayberry told officers that Glenn went through his phone, found text messages, and started to assault him. According to the affidavit, Mayberry did not suffer any injuries, however, Glenn’s right hand had lacerations from the assault. Glenn told officers that she did not experience loss of consciousness. Mayberry was determined to be the primary aggressor by officers and he was transported to 201 Poplar. Glenn completed a Hold Harmless and Lethality Form.
Avery Mayberry was arrested and charged with domestic assault with bodily harm. He was later released on a $1,000 bond.
