Woman charged after hitting girlfriend in the face and getting hit in return

37-year-old Peggy Fleming was charged with domestic assault after she slapped her girlfriend in the face when she was unable to grab her by the neck during an argument, per report.

On November 20th, Memphis Police Officers Harris and Turner responded to Dee’s Oil and K-Market at 4775 Horn Lake Road. Latisha Yarbrough told officers that her girlfriend, Peggy Fleming, Deanna Walls, and herself were traveling east on Delta Road in Fleming’s Toyota Camry. Fleming and Yarbrough ensued in a verbal argument when Fleming grabbed Yarbrough by the collar. Yarbrough said that she feared Fleming was going to hit her so she pushed Fleming’s hands away from her collar.

The officer’s report stated that Fleming hit Yarbrough in the face with an open hand and Yarbrough hit Fleming in return. Fleming and Yarbrough got out of the car at Dee’s Oil and K-Market. Deanna Walls, a relative to both Flemming and Yarbrough, was a witness. Walls stated that Fleming was in the vehicle when she started the argument with Yarbrough. Fleming tried to grab Yarbrough by the neck but was unable and then she struck her in the face with an open hand. Yarbrough completed a Hold Harmless form and Fleming was taken into custody.

Peggy Fleming was arrested and charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm. She was later released on a $1,000 bond.
