Woman tries to ignore police after causing accident on Hickory Hill Road

22-year-old Antashia Cobb was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, disregarding a red light, and failure to obey traffic officers after she hit another vehicle and ignored officers when they tried pulling her over.

On October 27th, Memphis Police Officers Brown, Pippin, Catron, and McCarthy responded to the intersection of Knight Arnold Road and Hickory Hill Road in response to a hit and run call. Officer Brown stated she witnessed a small sedan run through a red light, hit a larger vehicle, and continue on Hickory Hill Road. The officer advised she attempted to pull the car over but the driver, Antashia Cobb, did not stop until Officer Brown pulled up next to her and yelled for her to park.

Cobb informed police she was trying to get home to her sister who had just been in a crash. Officer Brown said she could smell alcohol coming from Cobb so she proceeded to detain her and searched the vehicle, finding a small baggie of marijuana in the center console cupholder.

After the driver from the accident arrived, they informed Officer Brown of a small empty bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey in the driver’s door. Cobb then advised she did not have insurance because she just got the vehicle but the plates on her vehicle, a Nissan Altima, were registered for a Chevy Malibu.

Antashia Cobb was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, disregarding a red light, failure to obey traffic officers, and duty to give information and render aid. She was later released on a $3,500 bond.
