25-year-old Deric Whitehorn was charged with aggravated rape, reckless endangerment, employment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of aggravated burglary after he broke into his ex’s home and made her have sex with him before firing his gun at the ceiling.
On November 27th, Deric Whitehorn’s girlfriend reported to Security Officer Redditt that on November 26th, Whitehorn broke his way into her apartment at the 1700 Block of Liverpool, causing the door to come off the hinges partially. She stated Whitehorn pushed her to the backroom with a black handgun, strangled her, and threatened to kill her.
According to the affidavit, he pointed the gun to her head and forced her to have sex with him. After he was done, he continued to threaten her and fired the gun at the ceiling. She advised she did not call the police because she feared for her life and only left after he fell asleep.
As she was reporting the incident to Security Officer Redditt inside her apartment, Whitehorn walked towards the 1700 Block of Liverpool while holding a rifle. When he saw Officer Redditt, he fled through the complex. The officer noted Whitehorn returned again and entered the apartment without permission, only to flee once more when he saw the officer was still there. Memphis Police detained him when he finally returned a third time.
Deric Whitehorn was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, reckless endangerment, employment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of aggravated burglary. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
