Woman assaults two officers after hitting her boyfriend in the head

38-year-old Tiffany Lewis was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after police reportedly witnessed her crack her boyfriend in the head, and then she proceeded to strike the officers who were attempting to arrest her.

On November 20th, Memphis Police Officers Whitney and Sheils responded to a simple assault call at the VA medical center, located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue. Upon arrival, they spoke with the arresting officers, Marcus Phillips and Angela Clark, who reported that they were assaulted by Tiffany Lewis while attempting to place her into custody.

Per the affidavit, Officers Phillips and Clark responded to a call regarding a disturbance. While approaching the scene, Officer Phillips observed Tiffany striking a male, reported to be her boyfriend, in the head. Officer Phillips told her to come to him, to which she reportedly became belligerent and refused his demands. The officers then attempted to detain her. During the altercation, Tiffany struck Officer Phillips in the hand multiple times and Officer Clark in the face with a closed fist. Tiffany’s boyfriend refused cooperation with the officers and left before MPD arrived.

Tiffany Lewis was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. She was later released on her own recognizance.
