Man spits on officer while waiting to be booked on trespass charge

29-year-old George Davis was charged with criminal trespass and assault after he was reported for stealing two beers at Express Mart and ordered to not go back onto the property. Later that same day, he was found at the business, placed into custody, and spit on an officer’s arm while waiting to be booked.

On May 14th, officers were called to Express Mart at 1295 Jefferson Avenue in reference to a theft call. Upon arrival, officers were told that George Davis went into the business and stole two beers.

Officers searched the area and found George at Court Avenue and Stonewall Street, where they gave him a misdemeanor citation for theft and put him on the AOA list. He was also ordered to not go back onto the property or he would be arrested for criminal trespassing.

Later that day, officers were patrolling the same area and found George on the property at Express Mart. George was then taken into custody and transported to 201 Poplar. While waiting to be booked, George spit on the arm of Officer Williams through the plexiglass.

George Davis was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and assault. His bond was set at $1,000.
