Memphis man drives erratically into oncoming traffic with 2-year-old son in the front seat

29-year-old William Smith was charged with child endangerment and reckless driving after officers spotted him driving erratically and swerving into oncoming traffic with his 2-year-old son in the front seat with only a seat belt on.

On May 10th, police were conducting a COVID-19 car detail when they and air support observed at 2007 Infiniti Q56 doing circles in the intersection of Shelby Drive and Tchulahoma, then driving into oncoming traffic heading towards Swinnea Drive. The driver was identified as William Smith.

Police observed that he had his 2-year-old son in the front seat with only a seat belt on. He was arrested in order to stop any risks to the child’s health.

William Smith was arrested and charged with child endangerment and reckless driving. He was later released on his own recognizance.
