Neighbor accidentally shoots woman and a stroller with child inside

41-year-old Steven Alley was charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault when he negligently discharged his firearm and it struck a woman and her baby’s stroller with the child inside.

On June 27th, close to 9:30 pm Officer Stroy came to 2770 Country Green Road in response to an aggravated assault call. The victim, Angelica Alvardo, told police that she was sitting outside at the house for a party when she heard a gunshot and noticed that her chest and arm were bleeding. She went to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

There was a stroller with a child inside it was struck leaving a hole in the stroller but the child was not harmed. A home down the street at 2776 Country Green Road was observed to have a hole in a window facing the residence about fifteen feet from where Alvardo was shot. The defendant, Steven Alley, lived in the residence that the police arrived at to do a welfare check.

Alley told police that he owns a green 9mm Canik Century Arms handgun and that he was loading it when it accidentally fired a round striking Alvardo. He said that he put the gun under the sink in his bathroom and that the shell casing was under his bed.

Steven Alley was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. His bond was set at $5,000.
