33-year-old Felipe Lopez Gonzalez was charged with aggravated statutory rape and solicitation of a minor following multiple incidents in a sexual nature with his friend’s 14-year-old daughter.
On June 21st, a mother contacted the Memphis Police Department to report that her 14-year-old daughter had admitted to having sex with her 33-year-old friend, Felipe Lopez Gonzalez. Later on June 23rd, the young woman stated that she had exchanged cell phone numbers with Lopez Gonzalez on December 14th, 2019. She stated that she began texting with Lopez Gonzalez and he told her that he liked her in a “sexual way”. The teen further explained that he would visit her at her mother’s apartment in order to have sex around five times, with the most recent interaction occurring on June 17th.
On July 27th, the adolescent arrived at the Memphis Police station at 170 North Main Street and positively identified Lopez Gonzalez from a photo line up. Lopez Gonzales also reported to the precinct and agreed to speak with investigators after reading and signing his Miranda rights. In his statement, Lopez Gonzalez admitted to knowing that her daughter was around 15-year-old and that he had sex with her twice at her mother’s apartment. He advised that he had known the teen and her mother for about two years at that point. The victim and her mother decided to continue forward and press charges.
Felipe Lopez Gonzalez was arrested and charged with aggravated statutory rape and solicitation of a minor. He was later released on his own recognizance.
