38-year-old Luther Walker was charged with aggravated rape after a passing bystander witnessed him attempting to rape an unconscious female and had to fight him off twice prior to police arrival.
On August 30th, Memphis Police responded to a sexual assault near the Court Park. When officers arrived, they observed a female lying face down on the ground with only a bra on. The female seemed to be unresponsive near the fountain. Officers were approached by witness A. Triplett who advised them he witnessed Luther Walker attempt to forcibly penetrate the female’s mouth with his penis. He told officers he ran Walker off but he returned only moments later.
This time, Triplett witnessed Walker forcibly enter the unconscious female’s vagina with his penis. Triplett stated he fought Walker off a second time and he fled the scene. Triplett also advised police he knows Walker was not wearing a condom because prior to Walker returning to the helpless female’s body, he was walking around the park with his penis exposed.
The female was transported to Regional One Hospital unable to verbalize any information. Luther Walker was found located near Front Street and Court Avenue by Officer Cash of the Downtown Commission Security team. Triplett positively identified Walker in a six-person photo lineup as the man who assaulted the unconscious female in the park.
Luther Walker was arrested and charged with aggravated rape. His bond was set at $60,000.
