Woman switches out tags for more expensive items, then uses self-checkout

39-year-old Dixie Tyer was charged with theft of property after she placed a $5 tag on more expensive clothing and then rang up her purchases at Walmart’s self-checkout. 

On February 27th, officers responded to a disturbance call at the Walmart on North Germantown in Cordova. Kayla Allen in Loss Prevention observed a white female on camera surveillance. The female, later identified as Dixie Tyer, took $5 tags off items and placed them on two shirts that were more expensive.

Dixie then went to self-checkout and rang up her purchases. She was stopped by Loss Prevention after passing the point of sale. The two shirts totaling $27.14 were recovered and returned to Walmart. Dixie was placed on AOA and transported for booking. 

Dixie Tyer was arrested and charged with Theft of Property-$1,000 or less. She was later released on her own recognizance.
