Argument leads to man’s attempt to stab and run over victim several times

57-year-old Walter Whitaker was charged with aggravated assault and resisting official detention after he threatened another man with a knife and then tried to run him over several times, per report.

On June 26th, close to 6:30 pm Officer Brown arrived at 355 Walnut Road to respond to an aggravated assault victim, Larry Ford. Ford told the officer that he and the defendant, Walter Whitaker, got into an argument when Whitaker pulled a knife and threatened to stab him.

At this time ford walked away so Whitaker got into his 2014 Nissan Sentra and tried to run him over. He continued to follow Ford and trying several times to hit him with the vehicle. Officer Brown said that he saw Whitaker try and run over Ford and advised him that he was being placed under arrest. When Whitaker was being placed into custody he resisted and tried to fight the officer.

Walter Whitaker was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and resisting official detention. He was later released on his own recognizance.
