Man “playing” with gun at brother’s house escorted home; returns later for assault

29-year-old Willie Harris was charged with assault, trespassing, and public intoxication after waving a gun around at his brother’s house, getting into an altercation with him, then returning to assault him after police escorted him home.

On September 6th, Officers Brock and Miller responded to a panic alarm at 1966 Colfax Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were advised by Anthony Harris that he got into a verbal altercation with his brother Willie Harris when he began playing with a handgun around his family. Anthony stated his brother had been drinking and was carrying the weapon around his home.

Anthony attempted to take the weapon away from his brother once he started playing with it. He also advised police that once he got the weapon away from him, his brother became aggressive and began to cause a disturbance. Officers took Willie home to 2666 Durby Circle and told him not to return to Anthony’s residence. Despite the officer’s instructions, Willie returned to the residence. Officers received another call about 45 minutes later from 1966 Colfax Avenue responding to a fight call. When Willie returned to Anthony’s residence, he assaulted him.

Willie Harris was arrested and charged with assault, criminal trespass, and public intoxication. He was later released on his own recognizance.
