Man strangles girlfriend after becoming upset with his mother, per report.

41-year-old Tarrell Crawford was charged with aggravated assault after reportedly pulverizing his girlfriend and claiming that she was attempting to hit him because of messages she saw on his phone.

On November 27th, Memphis Police Officers Taylor and Mingo responded to a call at 1024 Tilman Street Apartment 41 regarding the caller’s sister. Per the affidavit, they met with the victim, Tierney Taylor, as she walked out of the house drenched in sweat stating. Per her account, she and her boyfriend, Tarrell Crawford, got into a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation.

Tarrell assaulted her with a slap to the face and multiple punches and kicks due to him being upset with his mother. She began to defend herself from him when he grabbed her by the neck and choked her until she lost consciousness. Once she came to, she texted her sister to call the police, as she was afraid of what else he might do to her. When questioned by the officers, Tarrell claimed that he did not hit Tierney, but that he was defending himself from her hitting him over texts from another woman on his phone. Officers observed a large red bruise on the side of Tierney’s face, bruising on her neck, and a knot on her head.

Tarrell Crawford was arrested with active warrants for robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, and charged with another count of aggravated assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $90,000 bond.
